Car sold? Check. Houses rented? Check. Plans are moving ahead and we're gradually realizing that this is it, this is happening.

The storm before the stormier. So, we've pre-selected the belongings we're taking. One backpack. 14 months. Can it be done? Of course! Travelers do it all the time. So far, we've taken three passes through the stacks of clothes, gear, and other "necessities." We're going to soon find out just what a necessity is and what it isn't. Sometimes I think, "Can I really do this? Can I travel around the world with a backpack and a laptop? Leave all my creature comforts, friends, and family for over a year?" The answer is yes. The time is now. Onward!

Our foster dog, Ruby, went to live with her new forever family last Friday. Ruby has been a wonderful dog, member of our family, companion. I worked from home so we were able to spend a lot of time together. I love you, Ruby girl. I'll miss you so much. Thank you for spending the last year with us and have a good life with your new family. You'll always be in our hearts.

Val left for Quito, Ecuador last Saturday, Dec 5th. The house is quite lonely without Ruby or Val. He's now at Crucita where he'll spend the next four weeks getting some paragliding flight time in and taking Spanish lessons.
